⚖️ A new special tribunal has been established to prosecute Russia’s crime of aggression against Ukraine. 🇺🇦 Ukraine’s foreign minister called the signing a “point of no return” for accountability. 🇷🇺 The tribunal targets the decision to launch the invasion itself, not only individual war crimes. 🏛️ The Hague will host the court, alongside the International Criminal Court’s existing work. 🇪🇺 Major European states, the UK, Australia, and Costa Rica joined the initiative, with EU funding already committed. 🚫 The United States did not participate, after previously floating a peace proposal that included blanket amnesty. 🌍 The deeper pattern is clear: Europe is building international justice mechanisms without waiting for Washington.
