Long-term capital gains tax on stocks and shares

US - is a tax applied to assets held for more than a year. The long-term capital gains tax rates are 0 percent, 15 percent and 20 percent, depending on your income. These rates are typically much lower than the ordinary income tax rate. With the poor getting poorer and the rich getting richer it is our considered opinion that capital gains tax should be waived. governments do not pay their percentage of any loss shared by a small investor at the time of the loss, the shareholder only being able to offset the loss in future years, not at the date of the loss. We feel that the United Kingdoms Individual Savings Account ISA is a fairer system and should be adopted by as many countries as possible.

An individual savings account is a class of retail investment arrangement available to residents of the United Kingdom. First introduced in 1999, the accounts have favourable tax status. Payments into the account are made from after-tax income, then the account is exempt from income tax and capital gains tax on the investment returns, and no tax is payable on money withdrawn from the scheme. Cash and a broad range of investments can be held within the arrangement, and there is no restriction on when or how much money can be withdrawn. Since 2017, there have been four types of account: cash ISA, stocks & shares ISA, innovative finance ISA and lifetime ISA. Each taxpayer has an annual investment limit which can be split among the four types as desired. Additionally, children under 18 may hold a junior ISA, with a different annual limit.
